ニット記念日 / It's been a year

もう9月も終わりですね、今月はものすごく早く過ぎていったような気がします。
朝晩が冷えてきてブランケットをもう1枚出さないと夜寒くなるな～と昨日思いました。

I can't believe September is over already, this month just wooshed away.
It gets pretty cold at night guess I need to take an extra blanket out of the closet.




さて、10月1日はなんの日でしょうか。
実は1年前に私が編み物を始めた日です。　1年前の今頃は例年よりも気温が下がり始めるのが早くて
冬支度をしながら「ニット小物、自分で作れたら楽しいだろうな」とふと考えたことから、私の編み物は始まりました。

A year ago on October 1st the knitting became a part of my life. 　
Why do I remember the date? 1st is payday that's why, LOL.
 I didn't even imagine that I would be an addicted knitter back then, I just wanted to make a scarf or two by myself, that's all.

生まれて初めて仕上げたかぎ針編みのカウルです。　モデルは息子です（女みたいだけど）。
自分でニット小物を作りたいと思っても何から始めればいいのかさっぱり分からず、とりあえず近くの店で
アクリル毛糸とそれに合うサイズのかぎ針を1本だけ買って、YouTubeで編み方を探しながら編んだものです。
3日くらいかけてただひたすら編んで、とじもメチャクチャ汚いのです見えないけど。
でも記念すべき初のニット作品なので思い入れがあって捨てられないんです（苦笑）。

This was my first handmade cowl. When I thought I wanted to make a cowl I had no idea what to do first, so I went to Walmart (!) and bought a ball of acrylic yarn and a crochet hook.
I learned how to crochet on YouTube (hooray!) and took 3days to finish this cute teal color cowl.
The texture is not good because of acrylic yarn and seaming looks terrible so I don't think I would wear this and go out (well, I did couple of  times) but I just can't get rid of this.




編み物を始めて約10日後、Ravelryと運命的に出会い（笑）パターンを狂ったように見ていると
今度はかぎ針編みだけではなく棒針編みにも挑戦したくなりました。　すごく無謀。
初めて棒針で編もうと思ったのはケーブル模様のこれまたカウル。　
輪針を使って編むものです。　これまで輪針どころかストレートの棒針すら買ったこともないのに
いきなり輪針でしかもケーブル模様、すごく無謀（2回目）。

It didn't take me long till I started wanting to try knitting after I found Ravelry on internet.
I spent hours just looking at all the cute knitting patterns on Ravelry and I found this free cute cabled cowl pattern.  A cabled cowl! I guess I was really brave.

ビギナーズラックとでも呼べばいいのか、なんとケーブル模様カウルは無事に仕上がってしまい
私の編み物熱はそれから冷めることなく今も続いているのです。
毎日新しいことを学びながら紆余曲折を繰り返し、なんとか自分なりにウェアや小物を編む日々を楽しんでいます。　　
まだまだ初心者ニッターですが、「楽しみながら編むということ」を一番に考えて
初めて作品を仕上げたときの気持ちを忘れずに編んでいけたらと思います。

Surprisingly I finished my first knitted cowl and this made me very confident to keep knitting.
Since then I've tried so hard (but happily) to learn new things about knitting everyday.
And I will keep this knitting passion and enjoy the happiness of creating.




さて、今日はLunar Tideの続きでも編んでこようかな。
