Still Light Tunic cast on

12月18日、2012年がもうすぐ終わろうというときに私は新しいプロジェクトをスタートさせることにしました。　編み物を始めてまだ数ヶ月しか経っていないのに早くも大物に手をつけるのは心配ですが、でもこの可愛いチュニックはどうしても自分で自分の好きな色で編んでみたい！という訳で必要な糸と針を揃えてとうとうスタート。December 18,

2012. It's almost a new year and I started my new and biggest project, a tunic! I've only been knitting for couple of months so this is little crazy to knit such a big garment but this tunic is irresistible and I really wanna knit myself with a color I love.  So I ordered yarn and needles and cast on.
Veera Välimäkiさんというデザイナーのパターンは前回の記事のショールが初めてでしたが、彼女のパターンはシンプルですがひねりがあって編んでて楽しい！　このチュニックも絶対可愛いだろうなってことで仕上がりを妄想しながら編んでます。

This tunic is designed by Veera Välimäki. I knitted a shawl that one of her patterns and I loved it. Her design is very simple but has little twist and they're all stylish. This tunic would be really cute!(well if I actually finish it)






大好きなKnitPicksのフィンガリング　
One of my favorite brand, Knit Picks!

糸は大好きなブランドKnitPicksのフィンガリング、色はプラネタリウム(濃いブルー)。　KnitPicksは割りと安価で、でも質の良い糸を扱っていて大好き。　50ドル以上購入で送料無料もありがたい、50ドルって毛糸を買うとすぐそれくらいになっちゃうので。

KnitPicks is one of my favorite yarn brands. 　I love KnitPicks,  their products are affordable but great quality. I also have their interchangeable circular needles those are awesome too.  For tunic, I bought fingering Cotton yarn color 'Planetarium' deep, dark blue. 










編み始めたのは12月18日ですが、クリスマスの準備に追われてクリスマス前後はほとんど編めず年末になってやっと本格的に編み進めることができました。　　1月2日で胸部分終了、ここまでの増し目ですでにきつかった・・・。延々と続くメリヤス編み、だいぶ遠い目してました。

Started knitting on Dec. 18th but I had to make some Christmas presents for family and I was too busy to knit the tunic. After Christmas I could finally focus on this project. Jan. 2nd, I finished yoke increase and it was so long! The endless St st...but this is just the beginning.

身頃増し目を開始する前に長さをみるために試着。　ちゃんと服になっていってるのにプチ感動(笑)　本来ならここで5cm増し目なしのメリヤス編みがあるんですが、私は身長が154cmと低く完成があまり長くなってもなぁと思い半分の2.5cmのみ。　そしてまたここからメリヤスの長旅が始まります。　がんばれ私～。
Before starting the body increase I tried it on to check the length. It's kinda weird that it's actually turning into a clothing lol. It says I have to St st for 5cm without increasing but I'm worried about the finished length because I'm only 5'1" tall so I only knitted 2.5cm.   And here comes the long long journey of St st again.





Stripe Study Shawl finished

約1週間かかってショール出来上がりました。
パターンが楽しくて、1段1段とても楽しく編めました。でもこのパターンFingeringの糸用のものをWorstedで強行してしまったので、次回はちゃんと(？)Fingeringで編みたいと思います。
So it took a week and I finished Stripe Study shawl. The pattern was very fun and I enjoyed knitting every single rows. But this pattern is actually for fingering yarn that I just kinda ignored and knitted with worsted yarn so next time I'll make with fingering yarn.

ちょっとしたクリスマスパーティに羽織って行ったら、お褒めの言葉をたくさんいただきました。
Went to a christmas party with this shawl on, I got lots of compliments!


次回は大物、チュニック編みます！春が来る前に仕上げられるのか不安です。
I'm knitting a tunic now, so worried if I can finish before winter is over...





Shawl with Berroco Vintage



Love this orange!

先週近くにある毛糸屋さんに行ってきました。
輪針を見るつもりで行ったんですが、写真の糸を買って出てきてしまいました。
Ravelryなんかではよく見かけるBerrocoというブランドの毛糸です。色はオレンジですがちょっとくぐもったようなオレンジです。　奇抜すぎなくて、でもパッと目を引く色即買い。
I went to this yarn shop close to my apartment last week with my new knitting friend. I was going to buy some circular needles but ended up with this pretty orange yarns Berroco Vintage worsted.  I just love the color.



何を編むかを数日考えたあげく、手持ちの糸と合わせてショールを編むことにしました。
I decided to make a shawl with this Berroco and some yarn out of my stash.







So retro looking color

パターンはRavelryから大人気のStripe Study Shawlです。　ショールに5ドル出す価値があるのかどうかとかなり迷いましたが、ユニークなデザインなので思い切って挑戦してみることにしました。
Bought the pattern of 'Stripe Study Shawl'.  I wansn't so sure that it's worth $5 for shawl pattern but there are so many people tried this and thought there must be a reason. 



編み始めるとこれが思っていた以上にユニークなパターンで、1段1段が楽しい。これは5ドルの価値ありです。あと、Berrocoの糸の編みやすさに感動！ちょっと値段のはる糸はそれだけ編みやすさにも違いが出るもんなんだな。　針と糸がケンカせずにスムーズに編んでいけちゃいます。Berrocoはこれからも買うなきっと。
Once I started knitting, it's so fun! Because of its design, you won't get bored and just can't stop knitting.  It's totally worth $5.   Also I'm amazed at Berroco yarn! It's smooth on needle I'm in love with this yarn. 



可愛いショールになりそうで、時間を忘れて編んでしまいます。
クリスマスプレゼントも編まないといけないけど自分のばっかり編んでて大丈夫かなー。

I know I need to make some more christmas presents but oh well...it's okay there's more time.
